Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas is still young; it
was founded as a city in 1905. Though it's founding was almost a
century ago, the real growth of the city is still occurring. Las
Vegas has always been known for the glitz and glamour of its casino
industry, but in the early 1980s a period of unprecedented growth
began. Annual population increases averaging nearly 7 percent caused
the city's population to almost double between 1985 and 1995. At
the same time the city grew, so did its surrounding area. Clark
County encompasses Las Vegas. Because of the demand in growth, the
suburbs of Las Vegas proper grew even faster. Clark County is expected
to reach 2 million people in the year 2005.
